Flavor of the Week: GOOP

I know you're thinking- whatthehell? GOOP is actually a new discovery for me, something I came across while I was getting my usual dose of insight into humanity by reading The Superficial at work this morning - apparently it's Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle website. I know, you're thinking, Gwyneth Paltrow? Again, what? I've never been a huge fan in the past but recently she's been looking so good, basically, that I can't help it.

I am shallow, yes I am. In any case, GOOP details stuff she likes to cook, places she likes to go to, clothes she likes, things she likes to do, etc. And it spans two continents, Europe and North America. It's fixing my London craving because all I have to do is go there and look at gorgeous, gorgeous British hotels like The Berkeley, where I'm going to go and stay after I (a) win a crapload of money in the lottery (b) marry a decrepit millionaire and wait for him to die or (c) be really rich and successful myself. That can happen. Right?

So GOOP is a little pointless in my life but it's pretty and it makes me think about one of my alternate futures. In which I wear tailored clothing, own a vacation home in the Hamptons and have a blingin Chopard watch.

Update!!!

Hi everyone! I know it's been ages and ages and ages since I've written anything on this blog - and I promise that I won't let it die because I feel that one day I'm going to regret it if I do.

Anyway, I'm at the Coffee Bean right now and am attempting to be productive in this environment where I can't lie down on my bed and sleep.I actually really miss being here without one of the ISKL crowd. It's not the same! Although if any of you were here, we'd be talking about which teacher's the hottest teacher and school and making bets about which one of us would get hooked up first once we hit the workforce... You guys remember what I'm talking about! :) Basically we wouldn't get any work done.

I'm writing my short story and I have a great idea for it but basically I don't feel like doing it. As mentioned in my previous post, everytime I'm about to start writing something I pick up Breaking Dawn instead. Very smart I know.

Also thank you Priscilla for the DVD set of Sugar Rush, I've been watching an episode every night for the past week. It's totally helping me sleep - and it's also totally making me crave wanting to go the UK and stay there for a while and watch Channel 4 TV programs. Preetha? Got some room?!

Okay I just realized I stopped being interesting about two sentences into this post. Basically I want to say sorry I've been so out of touch - everyone hope you're doing well - also if anyone wants a pack of High School Musical bookmarks send me your address and I will get it to you!

Stephanie Meyer is ruining my life.

So basically after I watched Twilight like the obsessive teenager I am INSIDE, I went out and bought all the books (Actually it took me like 2 freakin' months to get all four because it turns out they kept getting sold out, go figure) that Stephanie Meyer had written in the series. Now because I have no time, I have been able to control the compulsion to read these damn things.

I read Twilight like two months ago, in like a day, and pretty much hated it in comparison to the movie. I think it's really poorly written and Bella in the book is way more irritating than Bella in the movie. I managed to hold off and read the next book, New Moon, like half a month later.

Then this weekend, I came back home with this plan to relax, do a lot of office work, write that damn short story that's due (final submission date on 31 March 2009...) and have an all round productive weekend. Instead I picked up Eclipse which I proceeded to read all of Saturday, finished it at 12:30 am Sunday, and then woke up 8 hours later and then started on Breaking Dawn, the final book.

I managed to wrench myself from the damn thing to go to my yoga class and now I think can probably hold off till next weekend. As you can see I have about 3/4 of the bookto go as evidenced by my fetching High School Musical bookmark (acquired from a storeroom clearout at work), peeking out from Breaking Dawn.

It's not like these books are THAT amazing. Well Book 2, 3 and 4 are hella more compelling than the first one BUT it's more than that it's like I can't stop. And I mean my love for Robert Pattinson greatly diminished once I realized that he errs a little too much on the side of crazy. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, click here for a transcript of his GQ interview.

So anyway, Stephanie Meyer is totally ruining my life. Those damn books. I don't know what the hell happens at the end of the last book but BTW if I had a choice I would totally go with the werewolf and not the vampire. Except he's WAAAAAAY too tall. Just sayin'.
